The GENETICO approach

An innovative concept

What makes the Inspector Genetio approach unique are the steps that are part of the student's journey. Indeed, the student's journey does not end at the end of the workshop! At the end of the workshop, the student will have the opportunity to register for a follow-up activity. This later step of the Inspector Genetico project consists of individual support for the student. Depending on the student's choice, he or she is given the opportunity to choose between 3 possible activities. The student will be able to have access to mentorship from a scientist to receive the necessary help to set up a scientific project for a science fair type exhibition, simply visit a laboratory of "real scientists" or even do a researcher's experience activity for a day.

For our disadvantaged communities

Certain groups of young people are systematically underrepresented in post-secondary studies with a scientific focus. As a result, the next generation that we so desperately need in high-tech and research environments is still relatively unrepresentative of the general population. With Inspecteur Génético, we seek to fuel children's imaginations, paying particular attention to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, belonging to the historic English-speaking minority in Estrie or living in rural areas. Anyone can be a scientist! We are therefore taking the initiative to prioritize schools that meet our priorities in order to best fulfill our mission and contribute to a more diverse representation of the next generation of scientists.
